DANNY EVANS
Danny Evans walked onto the campus of Gonzaga University in the fall of 1999. Danny adorned #8 that fall and ultimately went on to be a four-year letter winner for the Zags appearing in 162 games throughout his career.
His impact on the program did not stop there as he became a Graduate Assistant in the baseball program he loved so much shortly after graduation. Danny ultimately earned his way up to Associate Head Coach in 2009 and never left the helm until he was taken from us far too early in April 2022 after a brave battle with melanoma.
In that time period under Head Coach Mark Machtolf and Associate Head Coach Evans, the Zags baseball program grew to the levels in which they are found today. Five WCC league championships. four NCAA regional appearances, and ten Major League baseball players including Marco Gonzales, Eli Morgan, Tyler Olson, and Taylor Jones.
Danny’s role in the Gonzaga Baseball program was seen as one of the primary architects alongside Coach Machtolf and Former Head Coach Steve Hertz. His reputation and respect spanned far beyond this University, and many would argue he was one of the strongest recruiters in the Western United States.
Danny Evans was more than just a ball player, more than just a teammate, more than just a coach. Danny was an exceptional person, father, and husband.
DANNY EVANS MEMORIAL SHOWCASE TOURNAMENT

For the 2nd year now Michael has led 16 teams in the Memorial Tournament to honor a man who represented so much more than the game. Pride, dedication, work ethic, integrity, competitiveness, and what it truly meant to be a great teammate and human being. Your support of this tournament and the family of Danny Evans means more than words can describe.
